Dr. Mazzarella has both clinical and academic experience in treating patients suffering from chronic pain and disability.
During Dr. Mazzarella’s clinical rotations at the Buffalo New York Veteran’s Hospital, he was directly involved in patient care for both chiropractic patients and orthopedic patients. This provided Dr. Mazzarella a unique opportunity to treat patients suffering from severe chronic pain, post traumatic stress disorder, and cognitive impairments in a hospital setting. In addition, while in private practice, Dr. Mazzarella has had the opportunity to treat over 5000 patients dealing with both acute and chronic pain and preform over 1500 chronic pain independent medical assessments.
Academically, Dr. Mazzarella has taken over 120 post graduate course on several different topics in pain management. He has 24 certificates in pain management from the American Medical Association, 5 post graduate certificates in pain management courses through the American Pain Society and 9 post graduate certificates in pain management through the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Mazzarella also has certificates in pain management through the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Michigan School of Medicine to name a few. Lastly, Dr. Mazzarella has achieved Diplomate status with the American Academy of Pain Management and Diplomate Status with the Canadian Academy of Pain Management and has received a certification in Chronic Pain Management related to traumatic stress through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
